I never said it was "just fine". It needs some minor adjustments.

Medicare as well.

Wow, you really play loose with my opinions. I never said Medicare was anything but a financial disaster waiting to happen. The major problem with Medicare is that we pay about double the rest of the world for the same medical care.

That's $1.6 trillion right there, i.e. half of the budget.

And paid for by dedicated taxes, not income taxes. A different subject than 'bridges to nowhere' that come out of the general fund.

And that will only continue to grow as we move toward universal health care and as the worker-to-retiree ratio falls.

Yes it will. So maybe we ought to be talking solutions, eh?
