The problem with those parallels, Slacker, is that the comments started about Obama's "promises". And then throwing all of that in to some sort of excesses of the extremes.

I said earlier that I think his Madison speech had a bit more of a populist tone than his earlier remarks, but as I noted, he doesnt fall into Edwardsland (and I hope he never does). The only real odd thing I see about Obama's "promises" is the timing. These should have been part of his speeches in December with him beginning to prune back his list as he gets closer to the nomination. If he runs on all this stuff, he very likely will manage to grab the title of "tax and spend" Democrat. If he wins, he gets a mandate....but it substantially raises the chances of him losing.
