As I said in a previous post, I see them as an attempt to change the political conversation in which each specific is but a paragraph in the whole chapter. I think you are missing the trees in the forest. You can't produce a forest if you can't grow any trees. Changing the conversation from pine to oak, which is what you're talking about, conflates the conversation, which we weren't discussing, and the excess, which we were. The chapter (or book) is something like "we are all in this together." I already granted you that one. But that, too, is a different thread from the excess.
