What you seem to be ignoring is that there isn't any money, at least not unless you go further into debt or raise taxes.

That's, of course, back to the Reagan frame. Let's say, just for this conversation, that taking the tax code back to the 2000 levels, including the estate tax, might be a first step. From the 2000 frame, that's not only not raising taxes, it's redressing a very bad imbalance between rich and not so rich tax payers (one that the Clinton years only began to address).

Then use some of that money to work toward lowering the debt (and deficit) and some to start addressing the list I suggested.

But the more important point is to redirect the conversation, to get folk thinking differently about the possibility of doing something about these issues.
