the republicans controlled congress and wheeled through the most massive pork programs with no paygo that caused most of the damage. When the democrats came back in they immediately implemented paygo which was a start to at least SOME fiscal responsibility. I'm really tired of this "they're all corrupt" BS as a veiled apology for this administration. We were paying off the debt in the 90s, there is a famous poster of Clinton available on the web with him standing next to a chart, "USA debt free in 2012". The all republican president and congress that came in in 2002 spent 4 trillion dollars, iow they doubled the national debt, an amazing feat. We all reamember who started this war, Bush and Bush alone with a few cheering on neocons and a lot of scared public. Yes I blame the democrats for ALLOWING it to happen, but that is not the same thing as creating the mess.
