Taking the estate tax back to 2000 level is an impossibility, dems have been willing to settle for the 3.5m exemption for years, only hold up is repubs want it at 7.5m.

Ah, I can see I should be more precise. I was just quickly making a list.

I don't think it's impossible as you do, but I don't think it's wise. There should be some sort of cost of living increment for the estate level. 3.5m sounds better than the present 1m. I prefer that lower cap.

When we worked through my mother's estate, I was once again astounded at how many tax breaks are available if you have the money to qualify for them. If we could ever get serious campaign finance reform, we might have a shot at clearing some of that stuff up.
