That many uninsured adults and children in the richest, most powerful nation on earth is criminal.

Fine, then let's prosecute the criminals. Let's prosecute all those who have access to health insurance but don't sign up for it. And then put the 8 million remaining in Medicaid. Result: universal coverage. Yeah!

So "everyone else is doing it", automatically means its right?

Do you know any country that has tried universal care and dropped it.?

That's an argument against universal care, it demonstrates the fact that you get locked in, so you can't really just try it and see how it works.
