Now that I'm a mother and had to pay for two daughter's weddings, who are both since divorced, and my son's part plus in his wedding, I can say, give them the money you would have spent (about $36,000 - $40,000) to buy a house. I know they don't want it, but it sure would be a nice dowry, and something to hang on to after the marriage falls apart.
