I like the screw caps for most wines I drink on a daily basis. I can't imagine buying a serious bordeaux or brunello with a screwcap though. I was interested in your comment about the screwcaps preserving the fruit better. My understanding that a great long-lived cork can cost up to $2 per each.

I can not figure how so much imported wine can be made, bottled, and shipped, distributed and sold here for under $20 a bottle and yet you find Aussie and Chilean wines very cheap. I currently like an Argentinian Torrontes called Phebus. I pay about $9 at my Total Wine retailer. It's a perfect Florida wine with a lightly citrus/floral nose and good acidity for food. I think it could be the next "pinot grigio" as it has appeal for many who do not particularly love wine. MP
