I'm reminded of an anecdote that's not quite on topic but may be of interest to some here. A friend had a colonoscopy recently, followed all the rules, but the doctor said he'd have to do it over because her system wasn't clean enough. Turns out it was lingering flax seed. Doctor said the next time to stop the flax seed two weeks before the procedure.

Re the life span of ground flax seed, the vendors promise months of freshness after opening. Of course, vendors promise all sorts of things.

I use flax seed primarily for texture in my foods. And also for fiber and Omega-3. I take so many supplements already that it's a nice break to take cod liver oil and flax seed in some other form. I can only tolerate so many big pills.

You know....you're acting like an......ohhhhhhhh...I"m gonna be nice here.

"""""militant vegetarians."""""

find a subject that you can vent on that doesn't mess with our health matters.

I sprinkle my ground flaxseed on my prime rib....

You don't have the right to tell anybody to STOP/CHANGE anything that can benefit them without side effects just because you have a supposedly better idea.....suggesting they add fish is fine....suggesting they stop anything is not fine.

What protection against oxygen does freezing yield, if any? A package of ground flax seed, kept in my freezer, lasts months.

it is the oxygen that damages it.

So the sealed capsules of it should be ok?

I sometimes take those. I also take fish oil caps.

I don't go for the seeds themselves. I think I usually have enough fiber.
