Elroy, to the tax-n-spend advocates, it's all relative.

Dividends need to stay double-taxed because otherwise you'd be giving a tax break to the "rich."

Tax-n-spend is better than borrow-n-spend, therefore the solution to out-of-control government spending is to raise taxes.

The current progressive tax curve is better than a flat tax because otherwise you'd be hiking up taxes on the poor.

Lots of things get taxed multiple times Elroy. Investors want special treatment, as if their unearned income is somehow "better" than earned income.
