It seems once the kids know their boundaries they are happier. Our house is full of pretty stuff and my daughter said I won't be able to bring my kids over. I said sure you will, I will teach them what they can touch and what they can just look at. It's a non issue. She on the other hand can has a house devoid of anything breakable because it would be broken if it was in reach.

My mom's house is full of all kinds of breakable knick knacks. Her rule with the grandkids was you can touch, but only with one finger. Seemed to work pretty well.

Agree with that on boundaries...! And whoa is a GREAT word...Wish we had thought of it...Much better than Stop!

Our kids grew up with many of our crystal and art pieces, and were scared to death to bring theirs over.....We said the same thing...."We made it through you kids, and there is no reason, that the same wouldn't be true with yours".....In the two groups that had the kids, they wanted to put everything UP....we said NO. Same rules...look and don't touch. Nothing got broken. But the kids all enjoyed a snowball/aka stuffed animal fight upstairs....I have a huge chair piled high with collectible stuffed animals.... The really good antique ones are in a cabinet...

Then they tried to put them back on the chair in the same way I had them THAT was too funny...They could NEVER figure out how I knew....<ggg> I told them Grammies are just like Moms...but they have more 'eyes' all over their heads, not just in back.....

I bet you laughed so hrd when both Jenny AND Yeller sat immediately!!!! LOL!
