Sully, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Route 66 is no more; it has morphed into other highways and Interstates.

Once upon a time in the previous century, I made frequent road trips between Nannyland and Missouri, I remember taking the two lane-backroads almost all they way from place to place, so as to avoid Route 66. At one point (I believe it was Albuquerque, or there abouts), I had to travel Route 66 for a bit. It was ALWAYS under construction.

Another advantage to taking the backroads was that I often was the only car on the road. Somehow, I doubt there are many (if any) such backroads nowadays. - Holly
