You're proving yourself right and wrong at the same time......the med's presume to reduce heart/circulatory problems buy controlling cholesterol....

and it does help cholesterol...but as you say....cholesterol may not be the culprit.....and I agree with this.

So, perhaps with a person that has no plaque but does have high cholesterol or BAD cholesterol these drug are helpful.

I'd never take one.

there are better ways.

I am not sure that cholesterol plaque does not cause heart disease. It is a symptom of inflammation. Cholesterol in serum may not be the sole cause of HD. However, oxidized cholesterol contributed by diet, and sedentary lifestyle is an obvious culprit. Without de-oxidization of that cholesterol by substances or avoiding exogenous cholesterol, one could be in trouble. The trick is to find out why people who largely eat meat don't always have cholesterol problems. It is a thorny issue.

The hypothesis that cholesterol causes cardiovascular disease is just that - a hypothesis.

I agree. I think that plaque buildup brings on attacks. And in the meantime, lowering LDL while increasing HDL doesn't hurt.
