2/22/08 update
The Bears honored President's Day week by trashing Wall Street yet again. Despite their pillage & plunder, a late Friday rally held down the damage to the Nasdaq Composite Index, with the NCI closing the week off -13.16% YTD (vs. -12.46% YTD a week ago). But the Nasdaq Biotech Index suffered more extensive destruction, with the NBI closing Friday off -7.52% YTD (vs. -4.73% YTD a week ago). The Contest portfolios also had a painful week, with the median closing off -10.43% YTD (vs. -7.37% YTD a week ago).
At Friday's close, just 4 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD (somehow my portfolio snuck into this quartet) and 12 were beating the NBI.
Although it lost ground for the week, the 33.8% YTD gain by ROBERT's portfolio is still formidable and it remained in first place by a wide margin. NIGEL's portfolio took over second place, with an 8.0% YTD gain.
Have a terrific weekend folks!
