Thomas Jefferson was agnostic. He said he didn't care what people worship, and they can worship nothing at all. It made no difference to him.

A "creator" isn't specific to any religion. Even the word "God" is very general. Even agnostics can believe in a creator. Even Athiests can. A creator is just a general undefined and defineable concept which doesn't have anything to do with Christianity. Almost all religions worship a creator. Including aboriginals of all types.

Many of the top founding fathers were particularly suspicious of orthodox Chrisianity. Today's religious right becoming politicized was exactly what the founders were afraid of and were against. And they were very wise to be against such politicized religious groups.
