Perhaps I will simply join the party and enjoy the music on the Titanic.

That's what we all end up doing. :>) Forty years ago I was spouting about never being able to collect. Now I enjoy the Eagle shitting every month.

The trick is to have the economy grow faster than the Pols can spend it.

why would anyone want to pay aarp membership fee unless they provide you a service? i haven't ever found anything they offer that cannot be matched or found cheaper elsewhere. Imo they are self serving profitable corp listed as non profitable yet build a huge new building and pay themselves nice salaries. Just another group that congress should look into taxing but they are one of the largest lobbies in congress so i doubt those getting contributions from aarp would ever think of taxing them.

I have read, and believe, that the national leadership of AARP is quite far to the left politically, and is a strong liberal lobbying force in Washington. As a result, I automatically trash all their solicitations.

BCB....Do you know what the budgets are for SS, SSI, SSDI, Medicare, and Medicaid? If you can find them, the numbers would be good to know.

One thing could help..... For all who want into the program, let them pay into the program. For all who don't, let them show an insurance policy that will cover them for their old age, so the government won't have to contribute to them, and THEN they can opt out of the program....no more payments taken by the government.

Then we would no longer be bothered by paying out money to those who don't need it....they would have already provided for themselves.

Folks who are contributing to the food supply of the nation from their farms should get some credit toward their insurance coverage.

Of course, that would throw out millions of Civil Service jobs....and the wails would begin from those who don't have enough to pay for a policy such as the above. I've long thought we should be taking out money from welfaire payments BEFORE the payments are mailed, for Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Social Security.
