There's a line between abuse and common sense and I don't think you should tie the hands of government on defense matters until they cross it. --------- OK, Bush started an illegal war in Iraq based on flat out lies and resulting in worldwide turmoil, tens of thousands of deaths, etc. When you get done waterboarding him make sure you release the transcripts here first.

The problem is, you are not going to get the truth from fanatics, even if they are weakly organized so they don't know anything. All intelligence is compartmentalized to people in the field, so they aren't going to know the targets. Unless you catch them enroute, which will mean it's too late to do anything. They will talk. They just won't tell you anything valuable. So, you'll be sending critical resources on a bunch of wild goose chases AND you will have sold out your soul.
