As soon as I see one example of an exception, I will admit it. During WWII, the British "turned" the entire German intelligence network in their country, without torture. Using torture, the Nazis turned zero British agents. The few British who worked for the Nazis were Nazis before the war. Like Lord HaHa. Just as Ezra Pound was a fascist before the war, so Moose didn't have to turn him.

You have been watching too much "24" and not listening to enough intelligence professionals. I have never conducted an interrogation, but I have sat in on them. The difficult part is inducing the enemy to tell you the truth. Fear works a lot of the time, as do other factors (money, women, status). Torture makes the guy talk. It just doesn't make them tell the truth. They will say anything not to be tortured.

There are NO exceptions. Check your handy copy of the Constitution. Torture is completely un-American, and always has been. Only in the sick and twisted minds infesting the current executive branch do "freedom" and "torture" coexist. /BSG
