You might want to not include San Diego and LA.

Schools are a root cause of violence. In LA you have schools in Brentwood that have better equipment than UCLA. I was offered a job at an inner city school that was more akin to a prison with guards and bars everywhere. The computers for my class were obsolete and obviously cast offs that may or may not have been useful. I had some doubts I could get the old Silicon Graphics computer going as a server to the motly assortment obsolete Windows computers they were offering.

In Brentwood they had advanced SGs that were not available at UCLA.

LA is really the prototype city of the future. Gated communities within blocks of crime ridden communities. Gated because they have to be.
