We are not even at the stage where we are discussing how to find ways to provide universal healthcare, we are still debating IF we should even try to find ways to provide universal healthcare for all our citizens.

Something is wrong with this discussion.

Couldn't agree more.

And you couple that with our "twice as expensive" model, heading into a temporary demographic bubble, and there should be a real sense of urgency to find wholesale solutions.

When an exclusionary ideology trumps pragmatism you will never get the best solution.

It is morally and aesthetically repugnant to me that we are still debating whether we should have universal healthcare.

It's intellectually repugnant to me that so many view this as a binary issue and ethically repugnant that they favor political posturing over problem solving.

It is morally repugnant to me that people are still suggesting that Socialized Medicine is desirable. The very thought of a government bureaucrat using their power to deny coverage and sentence people to death because they have to contain costs should offend everyone.
