Since you aren't beyond hope like CJ is, I'll explain it to you.

During the 2004 presidential race, John Kerry was praised as a "nuanced" man, a counter to Bush's "You are either with us or you are against us" philosophies.

"Nuance" was also used to explain away all of the times Kerry flipped on the issues. The simplest explanation is that throughout his career, Kerry only assumed the positions (no pun intended) that were politically convenient.

Meanwhile on this thread, I've noticed how many times people on the left have used double-standards, moved the goal posts, and drew boundaries that ensured their side is covered while being able to condemn the other side. This is what "nuance" has become, and it is just one of many ways the "intellectual elites" defend their own biases (while refusing to acknowledge that they even hold any).

So when you say it isn't a game, you are wrong, because it is too a game.
