ACTUALLY... it is perfectly CLEAR that AT LEAST *one* of the phone companies (Qwest) did believe the request was illegal --- since they are reputed to have turned it DOWN on that basis! :-)

AS for what the rest of 'em thought --- the public will NEVER KNOW unless the Courts consider the matter. (Because the phone companies report that they have been ordered not to answer that question publicly.... :-)

You are confused about what I was referring to.

I was referring to the chance of Judicial review happening *NOW* (through one of the court cases that has been filed), not about any 'Court review' of new, as yet un-made wiretap requests. :-)
