Hi Buggi, I think I once saw write speeds for next gen flash (ORNAND2 I think) up to 20MB/s. Do you happen to know where? I can't find it back. Was it from last earnings CC perhaps??

Thanks for the data on the 90nm 8Gb quad device from SMIC!

I'm wondering about the SRAM block; is it new to NROM devices so far? It might be necessary as write speeds might otherwise be too slow, especially for quadbit. So far I think I only saw such a large block of RAM in OneNAND used there to improve read performance.

About those speeds (33MB/s read, >4MB/s write). They are quite good actually compared to most MLC NAND (that is up to 8MB/s read and 2.5MB/s write iirc).
Related to this I remember seeing an announcement for new kind of high speed NAND sample from the Intel/Micron JV though that was way ahead of it's predecessors with both read and write => 100MB/s. I'm wondering about the implementation. One component was the new ONFI interface (writing from head here). The article I read didn't mention burst vs avg speeds though. I'm looking forward to knowing more data on this one too.

Write speed is way ahead of most NOR (which is in the very low hundreds of KB/s), while read speed is lower (>100MB/s for the somewhat higher end NOR).

Regards,

Rink
