"Democrats care about protecting trial lawyers - as for protecting the country, eh."

Oh, BS. If it was so important to protect America, why is Bush promising to veto the bill unless it carries immunity for the telecoms? I mean, is it important for the wiretapping to go on or not?

Apparently it is more important to protect the telecoms than the country. because it isn't like the trial lawyers are going to benefit here. Most, if not all, of the suits against the telecoms are being handled by the EFF, which is a non-profit. The suits just aren't going to be generating billions in legal fees. The whole reason for the suit is that the administration is asking the telecoms to break the law. Some did, some didn't. The immunity provisions means that the president can waive laws whenever he or she wants to. And that means we now have a class who is above the law. Something the Founding Fathers fought against.
