Just in case you actually have Vista, you can permanently turn off the annoying "Data Execution Protection" with this command, run with Administrator privileges

bcdedit.exe/set {current} nx AlwaysOff

Reverse it by replacing Off with On. This makes Vista more or less like Windows XP, if you find that an improvement.

Thanks for posting that!

I looked at various laptops, etc. at costco, heard about friends troubles with vista and decided not to go there...

My pc of choice was running Susie Linux hosting vmware and windows 2000...

Took a trip to the local Apple store and got sucked in.

Now have 24" IMac and I really like it. It connects nicely to the pc network.

I run Firefox, Open Office, and various Google software as well as the stuff that came with the IMac. Video resolution is awsome... something important for older dudes.

Besides, any time I dump microsoft, I just feel good...!
