How can private schools be better than public schools when in most instances they have the easiest kids to educate and less input than public schools.

That isn't necessarily true, and it particularly isn't true when you have voucher systems.

The point behind vouchers or other forms of comeptitive systems isn't that "private schools are better" (even if in many cases they are) but that competition drives improvement. The biggest difference may be improving the public schools who now have to compete for students.
