Obama will be a disaster for this country.
Hard to believe he could win a general election, isn't it?

Yes. Also hard to believe the Dem honchos will run him, since this is a gifthorse chance for them to get a Dem into the White House. They really don't want to blow it here. I think they'll find some way to thwart him. He's young enough that maybe they can talk him into the Dream Ticket -- Clinton/Obama. McCain could beat either of them separately, but together they're a whole 'nother thing. If the Dems time it right, just imagine the frenzy that would ensue.

"Hard to believe he could win a general election, isn't it?"

No, not at all.

McCain's support is with moderate democrats and republicans. Obama's support is from the far left and nearly 70 percent of the populace that does not approve of the sitting President's performance. Advantage, Obama.

Remember Nixon's 5 o'clock shadow? Remember Kennedy's good looks and delivery? Remember McCain's bulge trying to get out of his cheek? Remember Obama's good looks and delivery. Advantage Obama.

The far-right and their radio talk show hosts will fight Clinton, McCain, and now Bush through the general election. I was listening to one yesterday and the only attacks I heard were against McCain. Funny stuff. Maybe he figures his ratings will improve with a President Obama in the White House. I'm sure he'll be loaded with Obama proposals to rail against. Advantage, Obama.

Bill, you added a post that said Obama was "calculating." That had Obama pegged perfectly. In one of Obama's "debates" with Clinton, Clinton said something about an issue. Obama chimed in and said he welcomed McCain to say something about that issue because he had a response already prepared for him. From here on out, Obama will be attempting to brand McCain with a sound bite similar to ones used before, for example: "There you go again." or "You're no Jack Kennedy." McCain must deliver one first to neuter Obama and put him on the defensive. After that, it becomes a chess game--which candidate can lead the other into a disastrous statement or position. Obama and his political staff are calculating and effective politicos. The election may well be decided on the quality of McCain's political staff and its ability to recognize what they are up against. For now, advantage Obama.

If the campaign ever gets down to substantive issues that his support can understand, McCain will win. However, in a land of sheeple and soundbites, substance may be a secondary requirement for the Office of The President of the United States. Advantage, Obama.

Now don't get me wrong, I am a moderate democrat who will support and vote for McCain. I'm neither ready nor willing to relive the 1960s--especially with a cheap knockoff "leading" the way. How about you?
