Willie Nelson IS the heartland. While Bushies have lied to the rural whites and let agribusiness and big corporationms screw them over, WIllie has stood up for the family farmer and even developed Biodiesel, a brand new product which rural Americans can develop and make money from. Bushies are for oil and oil only, and also send rural kids to die in Iraq for a pack of corrupt lies, then don't help them when they come home with brain damage or suicidal. Willie does not do cocaine. He smokes pot. for many people, pot is a harmless tranquillizer which works. It's also a natural herb which should not be illegal. In Canada they legalized it and are having no problems whatsoever with that. Same as in Holland. Willie did not evade taxes, he foolishly invested in a tax scheme investment recommended by shady business manager. It is the Bushie elite who evade taxes, and on huge scales. Halliburton's move to Dubai alone will probably short-change the US treasury some 500 million dollars. If you want the real tax cheats look at the rightwing suits on top. They consider it their duty almost to evade taxes. Willie is one of the great song-writers in history. His songs are filled with deep meaning. He is #2 to Bob Dylan in terms of song-writing, one of the greatest ever. And he is PURE country, like a lot of the phony poseurs wearing cowboy hates these days.
