I live in one of the richest areas of the country and I see lots of financial difficulties. Everyone I talk to is cutting back on spending and nervous.

A financial difficulty is exactly what this country has. The fact that you don't know what a recession is, think we are about to hit a depression (when was the last, the 30's), tells me you are just an ignorant babe who has never seen a hard time. You may think times are hard, but you are not even close.
