Taxable income is not the same as GAAP income. And in the oil and gas business, that is even more true than for other industries.

The company should send you a separate notice that details how much of your distribution is tax deferred.

cy, Dorchester Minerals (DMLP) -- thanks, taxable income should be lower than GAAP income due to the availability of "percentage depletion" for tax but not book.

I saw where they leased all that acreage in the Fayetteville shale, and all the wells that are coming online there, but so far it doesn't seem to have moved the needle that much -- 3Q production was only about 2% higher than 2Q and was about 10% lower than 3Q '06. Any prognostications on what impact this play might have on future production? Sorry for the grilling on this, you're probably gonna be sorry you ever brought this company up!
