The number 46 million.

No matter how you slice it, that number is too large.

My sense is that there are a sizable number of posts (and posters) on this thread that more then imply they will not support any government policy to reduce that number.

Even though, imo, you are not firmly on that side of the fence, my guess is that you would accept a practical solution that could reduce that number to somewhere near 3 million.

I think zero is feasible and that we should work towards getting there. I think we can get there in 5 to 10 years without undue disruption and with acceptable cost.
