The NY Times is standing by their story, and McCain was fully aware they were preparing the piece and refused to try and stop it. The NY Times also helped McCain beat Romney by endorsing him. They also endorsed Hillary Clinton and have put out plenty of articles critical of the Clintons. Plenty.
