The issue for McCain is whether he is truthful. The question of whether he had a sexual relationship with this women may never be answered unless there is a "smoking dress" i.e., a Paris Hilton style sex video. In the absence of such evidence, I am comfortable taking the word of Senator McCain and Ms.Iseman that they did not have a romantic, e.g., sexual, relationship.

The Times article claims that the Senator was told by campaign aids in 2000 that there was an appearance of impropriety and that he should cut his relationship with Ms. Iseman. John Weaver, his close advisor and friend, is on record that he gave McCain such advise. If others back up this story, one must conclude that McCain was not truthful in his press conference this morning.

A recent president was impeached for "lying about sex."
