It was not just President Bush's profligacy, but every time he endorsed a dollar figure the Republicans in Congress exceeded it by a large margin. The fact that the liberal media is in bed with democrats help them as well. Think about this, you attend a sporting event and are required to sit where you cannot observe the actual event, but only get the version that your team's cheerleaders want you to hear. For some reason you are surprised when you discover your team's performance fell far short of what you thought was happening. That is the liberal media effect.
