The original idea of an SDI that could protect against a massive Soviet nuclear attack was utterly preposterous, but the current small ABM program to protect against a limited attack from a rogue state seems reasonable to me.

However, I said this before and I want to repeat it: the current ABM program does nothing to protect us against cruise missiles!
