FDR didn't just inherit the mess, he helped keep it as a mess.

Hoover's Congress was Republican and had been for several years.

I never said the Republicans shouldn't be blamed as well, and in fact I explicitly blamed Hoover.

I still think this is the best essay on the Great Depression and its causes. I'd be more inclined to blame the "statists" and "bankers" of the time that pushed for the creation of the Fed than the actual central bankers or president that appointed them at the time. In those days I think they were legitimately idiots that didn't know what they were doing. Now, I think they are only 1/2 idiots and the other 1/2 scumbags.
