I thought LINE had quite an interesting day today. On a bad energy day, it got up about 5% in the morning. As Big Oil steadily declined through the afternoon, LINE held its gains and barely budged until the bell.

Lots of buying interest with 2X volume on an otherwise crummy day.

LINE reported huge loss for 2007:

>>The company reported a loss of $203.2 million, or $2.01 per unit, compared with a loss of $6.1 million, or 16 cents per unit, in the prior year.<<

Am I missing something here? Trading loss is still a loss, or is it not?

A energy company can possess great reserve and still end up losing shirt if hedge its output recklessly.

While I love the temptation of the high yield, I just do not understand how they can take such a huge loss...

Where is LINE's dividend cash coming from? How do they account the huge loss?
