Whose getting anything for free???? I usually put "free" in quotes. Didn't that time. Sorry. If you read the comments from Canadians who post on this topic, you will typically hear them say that they had this or that procedure and it didn't cost them a thing. Yes, they know that they are paying taxes, those of them who do pay taxes, but there's still this mindset that it's free. It's that mindset that I'm talking about. Hard to reverse. You will pay for it just like we pay for SS and Medicare..... Depends on how we set it up. It's not likely that we would pay for it the way we do SS and Medicare. They come from payroll taxes and cover only people who have worked a certain number of years. That's not universal coverage. So it would likely be funded in large part from income taxes. Why would they not be if they are improvements on the old system and benefit more people....What would you reverse? "if they are improvements." That's a big "if." What if the program is worse or becomes too expensive? Did you ever consider that? Remember, fewer than half of Americans pay income taxes. That means that a majority are would be getting medical coverage for free. If the costs get too high for the taxpayers, how do you think the free riders will vote?
