Hedge funds are blowing left and right. This is probably where the selling is coming from.

Well, it stands to reason that in any gamut of funds which are able to take either side of a trade (long or short) there will be winners and losers (just like the rest of smaller traders).

And the smart money pays for results with a measure of security. If they lose confidence in the hedge fund's management, I can only imagine that the money will taken out of the fund faster than it came in.

Is that such a bad thing?.. Performance based investing?

btw, i heard this morning that the reason zwirn is closing was that investors caught wind of excessive management fee (SHOCK!) and said fees going to things like private jets for management...

it's too funny....even the wealthy are pissed at the excesses...

funnier still is i doubt anyone would have cared a flying eff if they were bringing in the double digit returns
