Stupid Hollywood Political Statement Of The Day

By Dirty Harry on General
LIBERTAS

In a meandering article using the topic of pro-defeatist films and the Oscars as an excuse to bash Bush, ignore the success of the surge in Iraq, and dredge up the boogeyman of Abu Ghraib, Gary Dretzka sneaks in this whopper defending director Michael Winterbottom’s anti-American flop Road To Guantanamo:

<<< Lest anyone argue Winterbottom and Gibney are on Osama Bin Laden’s payroll, remember that the former also directed A Mighty Heart, an adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s account of the work and assassination at the hands of terrorists of her husband, Daniel. >>>

The likely reason Dretzka believes he can get away with such an outrageous claim is because nobody saw A Mighty Heart, but I did and can tell you that Winterbottom’s worse than “on Bin Laden’s payroll,” he’s working for him gratis.

Not only are we never allowed to get to know Daniel Pearl in that dull, shaky-cam-athon, but his brutal murder is never even shown. The brutality we do see, however, is our allies torturing a suspect as an American State Department official passively watches.

The theme of A Mighty Heart is that America created terrorism, fighting terrorism creates terrorism, and America is no better than them.
And if you think I’m just being a right-wing reactionary, you’ll have to accuse Daniel Pearl’s father as well, someone Dretzka doesn’t find worth mentioning — might help Bush?

Dretzka then moves from the outrageous to the absurd:

<<< Certainly, we were horrified by the beheadings of Pearl and other westerners. If terrorists or operatives for an enemy nation abducted a high-ranking Pentagon or CIA official and renditioned them to North Korea or Iran, the least we’d demand was a trial. >>>

No one watching the left believes for a second they’re horrified by the beheadings. I’m sure they’re saddened, but I’ve yet to see or read any sense of horror and certainly nothing bordering on outrage.

Liberals only mention terrorist beheadings within the context Dretzka’s article here: a few words nearly impossible to find in twenty-five paragraphs relishing and rehashing the perceived sins of America. Bin Laden himself couldn’t have written a finer piece of propaganda. Were I a terrorist recruiter I’d be emailing Dretzka’s article to every Madrassa in the Western world.

And I certainly hope we wouldn’t be “demanding a trial” if terrorists abducted even a low-ranking Pentagon or CIA official. I would hope we’d send in Special-Ops to exterminate the lot of them. This isn’t a legal matter, it’s a war you twits.

Dretzka then moves from the absurd to outright lying:

<<< Dilawar, and the prisoners forced to pose naked for photographs, at Abu Ghraib, weren’t as fortunate. The officers who pretended not to be aware of such treatment have yet to punished, leaving the buck to stop on the laps of ill-trained reservists and over-extended grunts. >>>

Is a Brigadier General an ill-trained reservist or an over-extended grunt? And how many newspaper and Congressional investigation before liberals stop pretending there’s a cover-up? 50? 75? 100? Just give us a number and we’ll get started. But the problem is that liberals don’t want more investigations, they want an outcome that hurts the war effort and emboldens the enemy.

You know why I’m not a liberal anymore? I got tired of lying and exaggerating to defend my belief system. I wish more of my old teammates would give it a try. Trust me, the water’s warm.
