Well, Hagel might lose a FEW votes because of his stands on such issues like choice BUT he would pick UP a helluva lot MORE votes because of his stand on the war. Look at Bush and his stands on issues like that and he doesn't get them overturned.

Obama's already got the "we want out of Iraq" votes.

You need a vp candidate to help bring a few votes he would not otherwise get. No genuine social conservative would vote, at least not very many, for Obama because he had Hagel as a vp candidate.

The more I think about it, the more I like Sam's Zinni suggestion. My recommendation would be Webb first, Zinni second. Include the one you don't choose in the cabinet.
