Rule by fear or rule by law?

"The power of the Executive to cast a man into prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers, is in the highest degree odious and is the foundation of all totalitarian government whether Nazi or Communist."

- Winston Churchill, Nov. 21, 1943

Well, in the context that such state behavior has already been conceived, it actually wouldn't surprise me at all --

Also a decent movie IMO if you haven't seen it, and except for the infertility angle, more than a little bit too close to home in terms of the present-day US

If there is anything I might find surprising about that Halliburton article, it's that someone was still able to get such a story into print. No doubt that with the coming economy-driven social upheaval that we may well be in the twilight years of such liberties, before military-style suppression in the name of national security of anything and everything not deemed acceptable to some ruling junta in DC becomes the norm

If someone is going to save this country from the fascist abyss, they had better show up soon
