how about the number of American citizens and legal residents who truly can't afford insurance, but aren't eligible for any government insurance or assistance with insurance.

This group was the target of the failed SCHIP legislation. As I recall, you were opposed to that. Would you remind me of why?

You said many people making 50K could afford insurance....

But ponder this:
"There is no settled view about what makes health insurance affordable. A survey last year by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that the average annual premium was $4,479 for an individual and $12,106 for a family."

Might make getting along on 50K a bit problematic....
