It is amazing too watch Obama politically neuter the Clinton machine.

Obama has absolutely been able to have it both ways on the race issue.

When Bill Clinton suggested that blacks voted for Obama as they had for Jesse Jackson, that was the old racial politics and much to be deplored. Obama is above that kind of thing. He transcends, you know.

But when blacks did turn out en mass and vote 90% for Obama, a pure display of identity politics, the Obama camp seemed entirely untroubled. Then Obama goes out every day and essentially offers absolution to his white supporters if they vote for him - "vote for me and you will prove that you have moved beyohd 400 years of racist American history" is his daily subtext. Yet what is this but a racial message? It is not colorblind at all. It says "vote for me because I am black."

The Clinton machine can't function without the black vote, as it turns out. And they can't answer this. The Clinton machine always played to identity politics. They thought they had a trump card with Hillary the Woman, but they've been out-identitied by the silver-tongued Obama the Transcender of Race.
