There is something quite majestic and beautiful about the rows of white towers with their slowly spinning propellors.

Perhaps I'll get there.

However, my internal pictures of the land feel violated by it at the moment. I grew up in the east/west center of Texas, about 40 miles west of Waco, just where the flat plains of west Texas begin.

There are several stretches west of town which I drove as a teenager in which one could see almost to Brownwood, much, much to the west. There is a grandeur about it which you can feel best in some of Cormac McCarthy's novels.

Windmills, in my mental pictures, simply don't belong.

But pictures change. We'll see.
