Actually perhaps the government should be the owner of nuclear plants and take the risk.

The gov't DOES own the TVA nuclear plants (and the coal-fired ones, too).

I understand that you are against gov't subsidies. I am not comfortable with them either.

Our Chattanooga public utility is now offering fiber WANs for business and fiber-to-the-home, in direct competition with the private cable and internet companies.

Do I think gov't should be in competition with private enterprise? No, I do not.

But I suppose it falls under that "promote the general welfare" portion of the Constitution.

As I mentioned to John earlier, once those sorts of programs are in place, they never go away. And so The State controls yet another aspect of our lives.
