And if you add in the 485 us troops killed in Afhganistan, the 165 american contractors killed in Iraq- not to mention over 800 non-american contractors, many doing jobs formerly done by troops- and the increase in Suicides in the military, US war dead exceed 5000. Also note that due to improved battlefield medical care we have saved at least 5,000 other US troops who would have died in previous wars; instead they are maimed and getting poor medical care from the VA.
