Yikes. There is something inherently dangerous about traveling 60 miles per hour with the wind whistling through your hair (over your scalp?) and no metal superstructure protecting you. It reminds me that freedom is not without risk nor is it free.

There's just no way to assure total safety on a bike, or in a car, for that matter. You do wear a helmet, don't you? Long ago, before helmets, I spent a week in the hospital after getting run over while biking. Still have impaired hearing in my right ear.
