Seems to me that the logic that has been at issue here is in the analysis, for example, choosing and drawing conclusions from data. You're not making anything up when you draw a logical conclusion or choose the relevant data set.

However, from the original question I infer a notion that one can believe, hold opinions, without rational substantiation. Faith is appropriate for the unknowable, but not for earthly matters. Earthly matters are to be analyzed. Although I never thought about it before, I suppose some people extract opinions out of faith but how that might be appropriate let alone sound eludes me.
